Sr. Packaging Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for packaging related projects to include package design and specifications and packaging materials specifications. This role will work in conjunction with purchasing, quality assurance, and suppliers to reduce packaging material rejects, and to implement packaging material cost reduction projects. All work is completed in compliance with the Food and Drug Administration, Standard Operation Procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices.

– Be the Subject Matter Expert on packaging design, materials, and components.

– Perform investigations and complete Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA’s) related to packaging materials and components.

– Work with Product Development and with Technical Services to identify and specify cost effective materials and components that meet all product quality requirements.

– Review and approve new artwork or existing artwork changes.

– Review and approve new packaging materials and components or changes to existing packaging materials and components and their specifications.

– Work closely with Quality Assurance, Purchasing and suppliers to improve yields and eliminate problems with packaging materials and components.

– Work with Business Development and Marketing to develop and implement new packaging components and artwork.

– Work with Receiving Inspection to develop tools and techniques to adequately verify packaging materials and components are compliant with the specifications.

– Perform packaging studies which will increase productivity of packaging while maintaining compliance with product and regulatory requirements.

– Coordinate with R&D, Technical Services, Production, and Quality to implement packaging changes for current packaging equipment and packaging components.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

-Qualified candidates must have a minimum BS in Engineering (preferably packaging).

-Qualified candidates must have 5-10 years relative Packaging experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or food packaging.
