Process Engineer
We are looking for a Process Engineer that supports a wide variety of Batching, Manufacturing and Packaging equipment that utilize programmable systems including PLCs, machine vision, HMI, process controls, and instrumentation for the manufacturing facility. This role is responsible to function with a process evaluation and improvement focus as well as a project engineer leading and guiding efforts to develop and execute equipment and manufacturing line support projects from conception to completion.
This role must manage and maintain Engineering and Maintenance equipment assets to maximize performance of plant and business operations. This broad primary role includes all aspects of Engineering and Maintenance through all phases of asset life cycle management with the purpose of supporting Operations and Quality by ensuring reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, controls, and safety/equipment security systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional engineering services in the project engineering, procurement, installation, modification, service, and repair of control systems for manufacturing equipment, and facilities.
- Perform duties involving a wide range of process engineer functionality for a variety of manufacturing processes and equipment throughout the facility to improve machinery and process throughput and efficiency.
- Develop DOE set up, testing and evaluation program standards and drive the program to identified processing areas of need.
- Daily leadership of engineering, maintenance and operations activities and technicians to understand manufacturing process capabilities, issues, and work with coordinated efforts to resolve and improve equipment and processes
- Ensure equipment readiness, minimize downtime, and suggest equipment improvements to drive OEE improvements and support efficient production demands.
- Functions as the Process and Project Engineer to assess and analyze existing processes and implement simple yet effective solutions to improve production and quality.
- Responsible for meeting with engineering, quality, and production leaders to understand and assess existing processes.
- Utilize programming skills to develop, implement and use analysis sheets other electronic and controls evaluation and diagnostic software.
- Analyze, monitor, and modify existing manufacturing packaging or facilities processes to ensure adequacy, incorporation of latest technological advances, and compliance with company, customer, and government regulatory requirements.
- Develops, maintains, and optimizes Control Systems implementations including operation and maintenance procedures.
- Develop equipment operating specifications and work with all functional groups to ensure process adherence to standards.
- Effectively utilize and develop various computer software programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Design and development of criteria for process upgrades and new systems.
- Participates in all aspects of new or upgraded equipment specifications, design, installations and testing. This includes URS, FS & DS writing, FAT and SAT execution to ensure equipment suitability and functionality during DOE testing and implementation.
- Adept with knowledge and use of 5S, Lean, 6 Sigma, Toyota Way and other process improvement methods.
- Capable of using and teaching Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques.
- Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues.
- Functions as a troubleshooter and provides technical support to the maintenance group.
- Provides technical support to maintenance, production, and other technical personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technical degree
- Experience in cGMP environment a must, pharmaceutical industry environment preferred
